Just wondering if one of the legal Eagles might be able to assist as most of the stuff online about this sort of thing seems to be more relevant to landlords.
My flat is leasehold and we have a management company who look after the communal areas, service charge, etc. Myself and the other two leaseholders are in the process of trying to take over the management through right to manage although they are making it difficult for us.
I was just wondering if I could withhold my half yearly service charge payment in advance as they are will not send me any backup invoices for the previous years service charge which I have reasons to suspect are fraudulent? I have asked many times but they just ignore me.
The reason I want to do this is obviously because I am concerned about the charges and as we are likely to take over the management of the property in the next couple of months don't want to have to go through the whole process of trying to get a refund.
