This isn't so much aimed at the HF because to be honest, I don't want to aim this at the wrong section of support. However, I am a little concerned that certain individuals within the more vociferous and boisterous part of our support appear to be of the view that only their opinion counts in terms of CPFC and there is an increasing tendency to treat other supporters who do not follow their mantra with contempt and even aggression. At Bolton yesterday a number of firecrackers were set off. I've got no problems with that. More often than not I arrive on the back of a few drinks and my own preference is to stand and sing and engage in a little bit of banter. However, these were set off very close to families with children present who felt forced to move to another part of the the away area, one child in particular being rather upset. Now, you could argue that responsible parenting would ensure that the children were kept away from that section in the first place - there was plenty of room elsewhere. BUT...the responsibility lies with those setting off the bangers to make sure the area is clear of those likely to be adversely affected. This was clearly not done.
To those involved I would issue a piece of friendly advice. We all go to support Palace and we do so in different ways. We are, each and every one of us, entitled to support or criticise the players, management etc in our own way. No one "set" of supporters should feel it is their divine right to enforce their type of support on others and this is particularly the case with a younger set of fans who behave aggressively towards those of us who have been around the block and followed Palace since before some of the younger set were born. Time to grow up and if you do want to "lead" the support, with that comes tolerance of others and responsibility in behavior.
