I've just received a letter from the council who own the house next to me. It says that they plan work on that house
"To remove the firewalls projecting through the roof. Tile over making waterproof. Lead flashing around the chimney. The council will be looking to proportion some of the cost to you"
I can choose not to consent in which case they will appoint a surveyor . They don’t say what the surveyor will do or what it will cost. Nor do they say what the planned works will cost nor what part of it they will look to apportion to me.
As far as I am aware there is no problem with leaks or anything else with the chimney, wall or roof. I wonder, though, if I’m lined up to get a hefty bill for something I don’t need and have no control over.
Where else to come to for good advice but the BBS so, any advice please ?
