I've heard from someone this evening who has family that work for Tramlink that every ticket machine at East Croydon Station has been found to have fake credit card readers on them.
Now I don't know how true this is (I can't find anything else more concrete), or how long they were there (if it is true). But apparently the police are investigating. But it may be worth checking your statements just in case.
