Some of the cast of Ted Lasso were in the main stand yesterday. Thought they may have been sitting in the Clifton front beer garden prior to the match. I thought to myself they look a bit well heeled for the Clifton as I walked by

Rules are as follows
1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.
2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single market is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis (basically no duplicate bets though you can do a team A, team B double on one bet and then add team C for a treble in another bet)
3 In the second round the 3* finalists all start by carrying forward 25% of their score from the first round added to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round. The person who qualifies for the final with the most points also gets an additional 10pt bet. (*if the number of participants gets to 7 or more, then a 4th finalist place will be added and then one more for every 5 players on top of that).
4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the first of the month (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on the 20th of the month. Then the top four* posters come together in a mini league from there on until the end of the month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the last day of the month.
5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score at the end of the last day of the month.
6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
Any bet from an exchange bookie will have a 4% commission (on the winnings), if nothing else is explicitly stated in the post.
7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.
8 Singles and upwards accepted.
9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.
10. E/W bets are counted as two bets in the masters, which means 10 points x 2
11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.
12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.
13. After a bet has been posted up, one is not allowed to edit it..
14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You cant shop around for the highest odds and put them together. "Special promotion" type bets are not allowed though BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) are.
15. Bets must be placed at odds of 1/10 (or 1.1 in decimal) or higher
16. Any Draw No Bet bets where the result is a push will always have the bet settled as void, never 10pts. Any asian handicap bet where the result is a push (in full) will have the bet settled as void. Any asian handicap where half of the stake is returned will be marked down as 5pts with the remainder of the Asian handicap settled as a win or a loss (this is applicable for asian handicaps such as 2.25 or -2, -2.5 etc)
17. In the event that a player is not sure if their bet will finish in time, before midnight on the 20th or midnight for qualifying midnight on the final day of the month for the final, they can make a provisional bet or bets which then become actual bets only if their original selection(s) finishes at 12.01am or after.
I popped in to the Moon and Stars in Penge at 11am for a pint and there were 4 Hammers fans there ( late 50s ) being very gobby, swearing etc. One of them was even loudly talking about packet.
Then in the victory club after the game, I was having a beer in the front garden area and a crowd of younger (and yes you guessed it, very gobby) hammers went past, throwing in a few bottles and some wood from the garden fence, then offering everyone out.
I really really didn't want Roy back so pleased to see him go when he did. How wrong could I be? Please pass me a large slice of humble pie.
Thank you Roy and Ray
Keep it going, unchanged team, just a bit of set piece training this week please Roy! :D Would be good to see Ahamada on the bench now weve hit the magic 40.
11 (eleven) consecutive seasons in the Premier League. We are the 5th lowest spenders in the PL for the last 5 seasons. We’ve failed to bring in multiple first XI players in 11 of the last 12 windows. We’ve not replaced the right back since 2019. No replacement for Benteke, only one replacement for Kouyate and Gallagher. Yet, somehow we find ourselves above £600m Chelsea. It’s a testament to Freedman’s ability in uncovering diamonds, and the application of our young squad that we are where we are despite spending so little. We have so much sublime talent in the likes of Eze, Olise, Zaha, Guehi, Andersen, Doucoure. Think where we could be with just a modicum of investment.
Is it too much to ask that we back this group of players and Dougie Freeman’s ability with some cash this summer? I think the fans deserve to see where this group could go with just a bit of support from Blitzer, Harris, Textor et al. Is it unfair to make this suggestion? Decent season in the end overall, but no more backward steps like last summer please. Onwards and upwards. COYP.
In two of my previous away day trips to Fulham, I went along on the BBS-organised CPFC boat parties beforehand, which were an excellent way to have a few drinks before the match in the sunshine.
I assumed we would do the same as a fan base this year, bought two tickets to the game and have hyped it up to my girlfriend, only to find there's no talk on here of one this time around :frown:
Hoping one of the previous organisers sees this as I would be happy to confirm your first two ticket sales!
You normally get a testimonial after 10 years of service. Joel Ward has been with us for 11 so is overdue one (you dont have to wait until their last season with the club). I would have thought hed like to play versus his old club Portsmouth, and no doubt raise money for his church which I know hes very close to.
As for Zaha, obviously hes been with us for much longer, though had that hiatus in ManU and Cardiff in the middle. Im not sure if that means he cannot get a testimonial (does it have to be 10 consecutive years?) - obviously, if hes still with us in 2025 hed have been with us 10 consecutive years *following* his misadventures with the Mancs.
Since we probably wont know if he is renewing or not until after the last game of the season, unless theres a testimonial there isnt a proper chance to say goodbye properly. It would be great if the club could arrange one for this summer, whether or not they then decided to renew.
How often does one man get away with so many fouls against us with zero punishment? He persistently fouled our players once again last night, even threw in one of his customary elbows into Ayews head. Never gets booked no matter how many fouls he commits
We all remember the elbow on Julian but im positive he did something identical to one of our players when he was at West Ham during an away game, can anybody remember who he elbowed?
Surprised no MOTM rating thread but Ill put my thoughts here.
Just got home about 15 minutes ago, they decided to close the M1 and M25 at certain junctions so took the scenic route! What a ballache! Decent enough day/eve out, however, in our half empty upper tier. :D
I thought we were quite poor in that first half. The way we have been playing up until Wolves is by supporting the wingers inside and outside, the full back making the run outside and the attacking mids attacking the half spaces inside. However with Lokonga and Hughes we just didnt have that threat and Eze and Olise constantly found themselves isolated.
When Eze moved inside and Schlupp came on, we looked a completely different outfit.
I think Richards was good, especially when he moved to CB.
The strikers Eddy and Mateta just arent staking any claim, Ayew was better when he went wide but Id still say hes the best option up top of Wilf is coming back for the West Ham.
:lux::lux: Now that Palace are safe, celebrate by coming to our evening with Palace legends Peter Taylor and Ian Evans at Shirley Park Golf Club, Croydon on Friday 2nd June - hear about their years at Selhurst Park, the 1976 cup run and that win at Chelsea, Malcolm Allison and more - this really is an evening not to be missed! :lux::lux:
Tickets are available at the Past Heroes website (I can't post a link) or email me at mike@pastheroes.com
I have mentioned this player in the "Wilf replacement" thread but think that maybe it is more suitable to have him as a new thread. If it goes against BBC rules to have the same content in two different threads, I'll delete my post from the "Wilf" one as I think he deserves his own thread.
Camilo Mena is 20 years old, Colombian, and was scoring for fun in the Latvian top division last season. He's not being discussed anywhere, so we could go for him before he breaks out into the Colombian first team and goes considerably up in value.
He is extremely versatile, though normally plays left wing in Zaha's position, but is equally effective as a centre-forward. This season he's played right-wing.
Ever since getting IPTV and not working at the moment, I have been watching a lot of interesting leagues, and this guy stood out for me when I saw him score a hattrick for Valmiera FC in a 4-1 win against Spartaks Jūrmala.
According to Wikipedia, in To view the link you have to Register or Login he was one of only three players to score hattricks, and he was the third highest goalscorer at 14 goals - but he also gave 15 assists that season. That's 29 goals or goal contributions in one season, aged 19!!
(And this is in a team that scores a lot of goals. His teammates Raimonds Krollis scored 24 and Djibril Gueye scored 12.)
Needless to say, Valmiera FC won the Latvian title last year for the first time in their history, thanks to Mena and his two prolific team mates.
But Mena is just 20. According to To view the link you have to Register or Login:
This season he went on loan to a Polish side which has been a mistake, as he's being played out of position (right wing) and has only come on as an impact sub for four games, and failed to make an impact so far. He is being wasted there. But the loan deal will finish in the summer and then supposedly he's back in Vamiera. But Valmiera are in a precarious financial position, in spite of winning the league in Latvia last season, because their sponsor went bankrupt recently, so they are likely to take a good offer.
To view the link you have to Register or Login, he's valued at just 1.20m - considering he is, and I quote again, the most influential under-20 player in world football, with more goals and assists than any other player under the age of twenty worldwide we should make an offer. I'd reckon 2 million quid and he's ours. With maybe a deal should we sell him on. His contract with Valmiera FC runs out in the summer of 2025 (oddly, Transfermarkt doesn't seem to know that, but I spotted that fact at the start of this other showcase reel:
On Transfermarkt it says June 2023 but that's just the end of his loan-spell with the Polish side Jagiellonia Bialystok.
So, considering Valmiera's precarious finances (so much so that they loaned him out this season after he basically won them the team's first title last season) I think they'd agree to sell him for 2 million plus add-ons, but the main thing is, he's not being mentioned by ANY OTHER TEAM in the premiership. He could be a gem.
His agent is To view the link you have to Register or Login. Does anyone have Dougie's details and show this to him. Far better than fight with other Prem teams for players already on everyone's radar.
If Dougie needs someone to translate for him, I'm a fluent Spanish speaker :lux:
Oh, BTW, he also comes across as a really nice guy in this training video:
Another compliation video of his goals and skills in Latvia? Oh, go on then...
I was just having a little chuckle over this to myself absent-mindedly, and thought it might be worth sharing.
Wilf 'The Wizard' Zaha was the name that started my humour. Then I thought of another couple of Palace names, past and present, and I chuckled some more.
I'll not steal the fun though. Feel free to suggest, or otherwise, moo. etc.
There are lots of posts about the readiness or not and long term prospects for various Academy players, debate and disagreement about whether the progression strategy is real and likely to happen this summer, and also about buying players who may block our young players stepping up.
So, I thought maybe it could be discussed in one place?
Based on players who have been either over age for next season, been in the first team, or got senior loans, the following appear to be in play:
Over age for Season 2023/24
Jake OBrien - full season on loan, played most games, replacement for Tomkins?
Kofi Balmer - only played for U21s but been on the senior bench
Malachi Boateng - had a successful loan but probably short of quality we need
Scott Banks - as for Boateng
Reece Hannam - seems to have dropped away
Rob Street - good loan but probably not our level going forward
Still under age for season 2023/24
Whitworth & Goodman - been on bench but likely to be loaned
Tayo Adaramola - played for first team, cover for Mitchell or too early?
Killian Phillips - played for first team, successful loan, maybe Championship as we are ok for back up CM
Jack Wells-Morrison - played for first team but mainly U21, not yet 20, loan out
David Ozoh, - played for first team, but loan likely
Jesrun Rak-Sakyi - played for first team, brilliant loan, no current cover for Olise, squad?
Malcolm Ebiowei - played for first team, ok loan, maybe competing with JRS for Olise cover
JK Gordon - been on bench, ok loan, probably L1 loan next
Luke Plange - been on bench, ok loans, probably still a season or two away, only 20
Based on all that, I can see JRS or Ebiowei, maybe OBrien, maybe Phillips, maybe Adaramola acting as cover players next season, for all the reasons of holding transfer spend for the first team, not blocking progress etc.
Having a good first season at Sheffield United. He's very much a talent I think. Some good stats and he's only 24. One for the list I think. any thoughts 🤔
I wonder if he gets enough recognition. Part of Palace's Renaissance over the last three games has been the increased belief of players like Ebbs. It was interesting to note during lockdown that Ray's shouts frpm the touchline were all positive encouragement. He's great at ensuring confidence in the players which is fundamental to doing well
To view the link you have to Register or Login However, we can't have a club like Juve losing points or some no mark will end up playing in one of the European competitions. When did football stop being a sport? :veryangry
Ben Jacobs
@JacobsBen
Exclusive: At least three Premier League teams are considering joining the new Union of European Clubs (UEC), which launches in Brussels on Monday and has the support of LaLiga president Javier Tebas. Crystal Palace definitely in.🦅
In clearing out my loft, I have part with my football programmes. I have programmes from most home games from about 1985 and most from 1978-1980 and fewer from 1981 - 1985. There are some away games featuring Palace during this time and cup semi-final and finals programmes available too.
Is anyone interested in these. I don't require payment, but am happy to come to some arrangement about getting the programmes to you.
As some of you may have seen on the HLTCO Twitter feed, my best friend Liam Foley sadly passed away from catastrophic brain damage after tragically being hit by a bus in Brixton after celebrating our win against Leicester.
Liam comes from a family of Palace fans and his brother works as a coach for the U23s. The club is currently supporting his brother through a Masters in Sports Science at University. Liam was a 20 year season ticket holder in the Lower Holmesdale, normally seen passionately bellowing expletives at the pitch!!
Liam was only 28 years old when he passed and the club have very kindly agreed to put a picture of Liam up on the big screen on the 28th minute. Id be so grateful if you could all support a minutes applause for Liam when the picture comes up.
Liams amazing girlfriend is also running the London marathon this weekend and will be running for the brain and spine foundation. Obviously the charity means so much more to Jo, his girlfriend since the accident so if anyone wanted to donate, I will leave the link below.
Particularly good news on Parking - using local schools is something our local Rugby Club does to good effect. Its a win -win and provides much needed extra funds for local schools as well as keeping the locals happy with less cars on the street.
Interesting game coming up. Speculation that we could see some U18s (Jemide, Grante, Agbinone, Obou..) West Ham may not be high in the league but have talented individuals (Mubama the 18yo striker with 12 in 16 at U21 level, Scarles..). They may not play though with the Youth Cup final vs Arsenal in a week's time.
Interesting point from the beeb -The Eagles have scored 93% of their goals in the Premier League in 2023 in the second half (13/14), while their one first half goal in this period came in stoppage time (Marc Guéhi v Leeds, 46th minute).
Just a freak? We did everything but score in first half against Leicester
Now Roy's got the team playing to its potential, maybe it's time to complete the team for next season. We're safe I reckon.
But, we're still a few players short of a really good team. The transfer strategy has been excellent over the last two years, we need to supplement our revenue as a small club with players who have huge potential, realistically we're a stepping stone/career path for the best youngsters.
The perfect window for me would include a RB, a CM, a winger and a No 9.
Those players are as follows:
Boey or AWB at RB.
Alex Scott as CM (but he's more than capable of winger or 10 too).
Balogun as 9.
Carlos Borges from City U21 as a left winger.
This squad could challenge for Europe IMO, providing we keep Olise, Guehi, Eze et al.
Did you know that the government can send the alarm to your phone even though it is set to silent, and that unless you acknowledge that alarm, your phone is essentially disabled remotely, that is according to the article above.
I love this club, I love the creativity of every chant but for me one of the most outrageous things that this incredible fan base has never come up with is a song for Joel Ward.
The guy is always the last to leave that pitch to thank the fans, so maybe it’s time to return that thanks.
Apologies in advance if this has been discussed before, I’m a regular reader but not poster on the BBS.
I have what might be a dumb question... Are Palace First Team games shown live on Palace TV? From all I can see, they are not. Although it would seem most Academy games are broadcast live for those with certain memberships.
Looking at the Charlton Life BBS, it would seem all their games are available on Charlton TV live, and I've seen people on here talk of watching Charlton games live.
Is Palace unable to do this due to some sort of Premier League mandate? And if God forbid we were relegated, would we then be able to watch Palace games live for some sort of fee I'm sure?
Just got home. Not a great performance like Leicester but got the win. A few things from me:
Eze- what a player. Has the potential to be a Palace great and finally you can see a future without Zaha if he is playing.
Ayew- worked his nuts off and kept possession in both positions very well.
Johnstone- Looks a very good keeper and is incredibly comfortable with the ball at his feet. Hard to assess him versus Guatia after two games but his distribution is definitely much better.
Roy- not rocket science what he is trying to do. Get the ball forward early and get Eze on the ball as much as possible. Not sure if it’s best for us long term but it’s certainly working now!
Hi everyone, was wondering if any of you attend regularly/season ticket as a family of 4+ and how you find commitment to attend matches. Are you about resell seats when someone cant go easily? How do you find it?
In the wake of Brighton's semi-justified irritation about VAR decisions going against their potential push for a European place, it is worth reminding younger supporters of a proper scandal.
Next Tuesday (18th April) is the 32nd anniversary of the decision by UEFA to lift the ban on Liverpool entering European competitions, denying Palace their rightful place with 4 matches of the season left.
The story is brilliantly told in 20 minutes here by Nick Timotheou To view the link you have to Register or Login
So a few bad VAR decisions pale in comparison as to what might have been, given what happened to Palace next (and previously to clubs like Oxford, Luton, Wimbledon).
A proper scandal, never forgotten, never forgiven.
Ticketmaster will become Crystal Palaces new ticketing provider ahead of the 2023/24 season. The new agreement will enhance the online ticket experience for Palace fans who will benefit from several new technologies that Ticketmaster has to offer.
The ticketing sites 3D Virtual Venue will digitally bring Selhurst Park to life for fans when purchasing tickets. Supporters will be able to preview the entire stadium in 3D the view from every seat before picking the one they want.
Digital tickets will continue to be the primary method of ticket delivery, with enhanced resale and sharing functionality available if supporters are not able to attend a game.
Supporters will be able to pay for products using Apple Pay, with plans to enable Google Pay soon.
Supporters will also be able to go through a ticket / membership purchase journey end-to-end in a variety of other languages, including French, Spanish and German.
Tickets for supporters with disabilities or accessibility requirements will also be able to be purchased in a much-improved online journey.
Season Ticket renewals will still be handled via our existing system, before the transition to the new platform during the summer, and supporters will be contacted should any action be required ahead of next season.
Sharon Lacey, Chief Operating Officer at Crystal Palace F.C., said: We are committed to making ticket and membership transactions even easier for our supporters, as well as improving the experience for new supporters.
"With the new Main Stand on the horizon, now was the right time to select a new supplier to best meet our supporters requirements today and in the future, and we look forward to launching the new platform ahead of the new season.
Commenting on the deal, Chris Gratton, managing director of Ticketmaster Sport UK, said: To have a Premier League club like Crystal Palace joining the Ticketmaster family is beyond exciting. Everyone at Ticketmaster is dedicated to making the platform the best possible solution for both the club and the Eagles' fans.
"Were thrilled to be able to be working with the team to support the Eagles' fans ticketing experience so they can do what they love and watch the team at Selhurst Park week in and week out.
EXCLUSIVE: FIFA orders Leeds United to pay former player Jean Kevin Augustin £24.5m for breach of contract. Relates to 25yos loan move in 2020. This is additional to #LUFC paying RB Leipzig £15.5m. Club has lodged appeal against decision @TheAthleticFC
From Ornstein.
Wow what £40m mistake that was .. got to hurt them in the Next window?!
Trying to convert an LP to mp3. This is proving very difficult as there is next to no gap between the tracks. Looked on line and there seem to be many out there, which is the best to use on my PC. Any advice or tips are most welcome.
I think its an easy one this week and dont think thered be anyone in disagreement. You dont change that team, you just hope the team that came out for the second half turns up rather than the first!
Im on a cruise in the middle of the ocean right now and Ive been busy and drinking all day. Our kickoff was 11pm so I watched of course and now we are leading 5-1 its blown my mind. Do I grab any kind of woman to top it off or go for glory with a goodun? :D
Looked a world beater when he burst on to the scene with Leeds, difficult spell at Spurs (but not the first there) and now playing well again at Sunderland.
Cannot say I have seen much of him at Sunderland, but he's the right age and the kind of gem we could aim to polish.
Crystal Palace have now signed Galatasaray defender Victor Nelsson a player who Newcastle wanted to buy in 2022.
Well according to Ertem Şener the south Londoners have now wrapped up a deal for the Denmark international, and he will move to Selhurst Park at the end of the season.
Hi all
I piggy backed an old thread with no joy so starting a specific one. Im in Tokyo with the fam and am hoping to slope off to catch the Leeds game tomorrow night. Any recommendations / local knowledge of any pubs that are likely to show the palace game? TIA.
I would like to go to one of these with my son, preferably Fulham. We both have just under 7000 loyalty points ( unless next years season ticket+ points are added now). What are the chances of getting tickets? I suspect Fulham being last away game is very doubtful.
Thanks in advance for any help
I thought it might be a laugh to counter the relegation doom threads to start one that looks upwards, especially with Chelsea about to appoint Lampard.
Granted without Wilf this looks impossible, although if it is 3 games that's not the worst case!
We are 9 points behind them but they have the distraction of the Champions League and a run in involving Brighton, Man Utd, Brentford, Arsenal, Man City and Newcastle.
Compared to ours where most would honestly only see Tottenham (who have been shocking lately) as winnable.
Do I believe we can? Not really, but let's have some fun and positivity :lux:
Striker Teemu Pukki will leave Norwich City when his contract expires at the end of the season.
The 33-year-old Finland international has scored 88 goals in 204 appearances for the Canaries since arriving on a free transfer from Danish side Brondby in the summer of 2018.
A few of the less than reliable news outlets reporting that we will be after Morelos in the summer when his contract expires. It would definitely be a low risk move and we do have room for another striker in the squad.
Whether he'll actually be on our radar remains to be seen, but on the face of it'll be a reasonable free transfer.
I am thinking of upgrading my phone, I currently have a iphone 7. Should I upgrade my phone to the new iphone 14 or make the switch to android? I like the flip phones however there not going to last for over a year. If I should go for android which phone should I check out??
Thinking of getting a series S due to them being relatively cheap at £250. I was wondering whether the X would be worth that much more to me over an S as Im an infrequent gamer.
My main games to play would be Forza as Ill purchase a steering wheel and pedal set up, and FIFA. Short of that, thats pretty much all I will play.
The only really concern I have is storage. The S being digital only would surely soon be full with downloaded games?
I am even considering getting a refurbished Xbox one as Im not sure Ill really need the snazz of the newer gen consoles.
Hopefully someone can help me out and tell me the differences and wether its actually worth it. Ideally Id rather the cheapest option but if the differences outweigh the costs Ill happily buy the more expensive option.
I might as well start the ball rolling. These are now officially overdue which is not a great surprise as I think the last time we met the deadline (normally 31st March each year) was in 2017.
This financial review did appear on the Palace website recently so presumably the numbers will stack up when the official accounts are published:
Guaita 7 Not a lot to do but one excellent save from Maddison
Mitchell 7 Gives it his all, got forward well at times
Guehi 7 solid, a proper athlete
Andersen 7 solid, and technically classy
Ward 4 I'm sorry he's not PL standard anymore. So slow, and poor on ball
Doucoure 6 Did well on his own in midfield
Eze 8 MOM put in more effort, excellent free kick. did I say he worked harder?
Schlupp 7 excellent in first half, faded as usual
Zaha 8 electric as the skipper, another missed opportunity from Pat not giving him the armband
Edouard 6 some nice touches but he's not a lone centre forward
Olise 7 bright but young and didn't affect the game despite his evident ability
Subs:
Ayew 5 an assist but took too long on several attacks and workrate was missing. He was at fault for their goal.
Hughes n/a Hodgson >80 min special
Matete n/a Hodgson >80 min special but excellent goal, super finish
Arise Sir Roy Hodgson. Credit to him for getting more out of Eze and Zaha in particular. Bringing on Mateta, eventually, made the difference, and was something I'd been calling for . I like Edouard as a squad player, and he's better overall than Mateta, but he doesn't want to go in behind. As soon as you get a player who makes the right runs we have our best chance of the match and the 3 points are secured. No way Edouard makes that run, he'd have been 20 yards deeper and looking to lay it off. Zaha injury a crushing blow. 3 points absolutely crucial, and fully deserved on balance of play, especially after a superb first half. COYP, please stay up. It's not over yet.
What a great first half against Leicester. We look completely different.
I just checked and we don't have one of these positivity threads!
We do now.
What a difference, and what a pleasure to have such a wily old campaigner at the helm that truly understands the club, fans, players, and what it takes to motivate a team bereft of confidence and install them with a bit of 'Homer's Odyssey.' Getting 300 vibes! :)
The FA published the annual spending on agents, we were around £9m for the calendar year 2022. More interesting is the second PDF in the article which is the list of transactions that made up that £9m, which show lots of young players getting new deals. The two PDFs are at the bottom of the article.
