So, whilst a new contract for Wilf should - and will be - top priority, and signing Sakho should be right up there, my number 1 transfer target for us in the summer would be Jack Wilshere.
If you look at our current midfield, Puncheon is approx 30 and the pace has gone, Cabaye is over 30 and not one for the future, McArthur is often injured and then other than Luka there's no-one else. So we badly need a centre mid. With it looking likely that Wenger will stay, and his preference for other midfielders there may be a chance of not only a loan move (although I'd take that as well) but also a permanent transfer. Jack is out of favour with Bournemouth and the media and needs a fresh start. He was played as a holding mid by Hodgson, which is not his position. He was played as an attacking mid by Eddie Howe and I don't think that's his best position either. He has played his best as a box-to-box midfielder alongside a destroyer.
And that would suit us perfectly, to play alongside Luka. He's 25, he's proven his fitness this season and could play left side centre mid alongside Milovojevic for years to come. He wouldn't have the same pressure on his shoulders here as he would at Arsenal. And we have better attacking players than Bournemouth to take the brunt of the attacking work. The talent is still there, and we have a realistic chance of getting him, as his star has waned at Bournemouth. Thoughts?
