As a golfer, one of the keenest events in the calendar is the Ryder Cup, Europe vs the USA. I see parallels between the World Cup's battles between the big two (sorry Africa, Asia and Oceania,Central and North America), Europe and South America. As it stands, the contests between the two are definitely going the way of the South Americans. Brazil got the ball rolling with a controversial win beating Croatia. Then, it was the turn of Colombia to do over Greece. 2-0 to the South Americans. Currently Ecuador are drawing with Switzerland, one of Europe's so called solid teams. That would make the score 2 1/2 to 1/2 if it stays that way. Home soil for the South Americans with the crowd advantage and the climate. I still expect Europe to strike back but will the South Americans continue to triumph on the fringes? It looks that way.
