Interesting comments from Stoke chairman Peter Coates with reference to Tony Ps transfer style. So was January typical Tony or down to or negotiations as many thought?
Hughes does not want to leave things until the last minute like former boss Tony Pulis. Pulis usually left things to the final minutes of the transfer deadline but Hughes will not do the same, and Coates seems more comfortable with getting it all done early if possible. "We've got a few irons in the fire with other players," Coates said. "Tony Pulis had a preference for leaving things late. I wasn't always sure he was right but that's what he felt, so we tended to go down that path. "Mark would rather do things earlier. They're all different. The outcome is the important thing."
