Why isn't there a British national day?

I googled it, thinking it would be a good idea, and it turns out that plenty if others have beaten me to it.

But why isn't there one? It would be good, and we could do with another bank holiday between August and December. Perhaps we could introduce one to celebrate a no vote in the Scottish referendum. And if they vote yes, perhaps we could introduce one to celebrate that too.
